To all artists and researchers in Japan who have been involved in Ars Electronica:

At the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, they are in the middle of running "Cyber Arts Japan: Ars Electronica-30 years for Art and Media Technology", the first exhibition to introduce Ars Electronica to Japan on a large scale. We would like to use this anniversary as an opportunity to gather and meet other artists in Japan who have been involved with Ars Electronica.

Although it goes without saying, between PRIX award recipients, invited artists, and those giving performances or presenting works at symposiums, campus exhibitions, or other venues, the number of Japanese artists presenting at this worldwide art festival is becoming quite considerable. Despite this, due to participating in different years, only meeting in Linz, or presenting in different categories, our Ars Electronica experience often ended without ever getting to know each other. Of course, this is a shame for us as artists and researchers, and a wasted opportunity to solidify the position and future of media art in Japan.

We want this event to provide a fun, exciting opportunity for artists and researchers to network and participate in discussions about research and future goals. We hope this relaxed environment fosters conversation about media art education, creation and presentation.

We would like to especially encourage artists in the digital music field, along with other performance artists, who haven't been the target of other exhibitions in Japan, to take the stage at this live event. We also hope other artists will show up in support of the event.

It doesn't matter if you participated in Ars Electronica a long time ago, or if you were one member of a group project, or if you submitted a work, but didn't actually go to Linz. We welcome anyone who is proud to have been involved, in some form or another, in this worldwide activity. We would also love to have the endorsement and participation of anyone with an interest in media art.
